Frequently Asked Questions.

Everything below has been asked on WhatsApp at least twice. If yours is not here, a person answers between 10am and 8pm. within 24 hours.

Ordering

Is every saree really one of a kind?

Most are. Thirty pieces at launch, and around twenty of them exist in a single length. When that one sells we do not put the same warp back on the loom to make a copy. A handloom cannot repeat itself exactly anyway, so a second piece would be a near-miss rather than the same saree.

Where a piece can be rewoven to order we say so on the product page and give you the loom time honestly, usually three to four weeks.

Does adding a saree to my cart hold it for me?

No, and we would rather say that plainly than let you find out at checkout. The cart shows a thirty-minute hold as a courtesy timer, but nothing is reserved until payment clears. Two people can be looking at the same piece at once.

If you are deciding between two and need time, tell our stylist. A stylist can put a genuine hold on a piece for twenty-four hours.

Can I see a piece before I buy it?

No, we will soon introduce virtual try on on our website.

Do you take orders on WhatsApp?

We take conversations on WhatsApp and orders on the site. A stylist will shortlist pieces, send photographs and video, hold something for you and walk you through measurements. But payment always goes through the site so that you have a proper invoice and the seven-day return window.

Sizing & blouse stitching

How does blouse stitching work?

Tick blouse stitching on the product page and a form opens with seven measurements. Fill in what you can. Rough is fine. And a stylist confirms them with you on WhatsApp before anything is cut. Stitching adds seven to ten days to dispatch and ₹3,500 to the price.

The blouse is cut from the blouse piece that comes with the saree, so you are not buying extra fabric.

What if I do not know my measurements?

Then let us do it. Book a video consultation and a stylist will talk you through the tape in ten minutes, or come to the studio and we will measure you properly. You can also send a photograph of a blouse you already like and we will copy its measurements. This works better than most people expect.

Can the blouse be altered later?

Bust, waist and length can be let out or taken in by a competent tailor, and we leave seam allowance for exactly that. Shoulder and armhole cannot be meaningfully altered once cut. Which is why a stylist double-checks those two with you before we start.

Is a standard blouse size available instead?

Yes. We keep S to XXL in a plain matching blouse for most pieces at ₹1,800, cut regular. It will not fit like a measured blouse but it means you can wear the saree the week it arrives.

Customisation

What can be customised?

Fall and pico, pre-pleating, blouse stitching to measure, and on some pieces a change of blouse-piece colour. We do not shorten sarees, recolour zari or alter borders. Those are structural and a handloom saree is not the place for them.

What is pre-pleating and should I ask for it?

We pleat the saree to your height and press it so it holds, which turns a twenty-minute drape into a five-minute one. It is worth it if you wear sarees rarely or are travelling to the event.

Two things to know: the crease is permanent for the life of that press, and a pre-pleated saree is final sale because it cannot be unpressed.

Can I have something woven specially?

For a bridal commission, yes. A specific colour, a border, a pallu motif. It takes six to ten weeks depending on the cluster, starts around ₹1,50,000, and begins with a conversation rather than a form. Write to us and a stylist will set up a call with the weaving family involved.

Shipping & delivery

How long until it reaches me?

Ready-to-ship pieces are dispatched within seven days and reach most Indian cities three to five days later. Add three to four days for fall and pico, seven to ten for blouse stitching, and three to four weeks if the piece is woven to order. The product page states which applies before you pay.

What does shipping cost?

Insured standard shipping is free on every order with no minimum. Next-day delivery in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad is ₹900 if ordered before 2pm. Studio pickup in Bandra West is free.

Do you ship outside India?

Not yet. If you are abroad and want a piece sent to family in India, that works and we will handle the gifting. A note in the parcel and no price on the invoice.

What if nobody is home?

Every parcel needs a signature and we do not authorise leaving a saree in a lobby or with a neighbour. The courier tries three times and our team calls you between attempts. Unclaimed parcels come back to us and we refund in full.

Returns

What is your return window?

Seven days from delivery on ready-to-ship pieces, unworn and with the certificate and Silk Mark tag attached. Tell us on WhatsApp, we arrange an insured pickup at our cost, and the refund is raised the day it clears inspection.

Why can’t customised pieces be returned?

A blouse cut to your shoulder fits you and nobody else. A pressed pleat cannot be unpressed. A warp put on a loom for you consumed weeks a weaver cannot recover. So stitched, pleated, customised and made-to-order pieces are final sale.

This is the reason we spend so much effort before the sale. Stylists, video calls, measurements confirmed by a person. If you are unsure, buy ready-to-ship.

What if it arrives damaged or looks different?

That is ours to fix regardless of whether the piece was customised. Photograph it, send it within seven days, and choose a repair, a replacement or a refund. Handloom irregularity is not damage. Slubs and small shifts in a motif are properties of the weave. But anything we described wrongly is on us.

Product care

How do I wash a silk saree?

Do not, for the first year. Dry clean it, and only when it actually needs it. Airing a saree overnight deals with most wear. When you do dry clean, tell them it is real zari and ask them not to steam-press the border directly.

How should I store it?

Folded along a different line every three or four months, wrapped in the cotton sleeve it arrived in, never in plastic. Zari creases oxidise where they are folded, so moving the fold is the single most useful thing you can do. Keep it off bare wood and away from naphthalene.

The zari has darkened slightly. Is that normal?

Real zari is silver under the gold, and silver tarnishes. Very slowly, and usually only along the fold. It is a sign the zari is genuine, not a fault. A specialist can brighten it; most of our customers prefer the older look and leave it.

Payments

What can I pay with?

UPI, credit and debit cards including RuPay and Amex, and net banking from all major Indian banks. Card details go straight to the payment gateway. We never see or store your card number.

Can I pay in parts?

On made-to-order pieces above ₹1,00,000, yes: half when the order is placed and half before dispatch. A stylist confirms the schedule with you in writing. We do not offer EMI or buy-now-pay-later.

Is the price inclusive of GST?

Yes. Every price on the site includes GST and there is nothing extra at delivery. A GST invoice travels with the parcel and by email. Give us your GSTIN at checkout if you need it on the invoice.
